Born and raised in rural St. James, Missouri, Matt holds both a B.S. and M.S. Degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University and a J.D from the Saint Louis University School of Law.

Matt is a practicing attorney and operates his own legal practice focused on estate planning. Before becoming an attorney, Matt worked as a Project Manager in Information Systems for over a decade.

In 2015, he married his wife, Stephanie, who teaches Family and Consumer Sciences at a local, public middle-school, and in 2021, their son, Sebastian, was born.
  • It is time for a change in Jefferson City. For over two decades, the GOP has held a supermajority in the House and Senate, yet recent obstruction by party extremists has demonstrated that they can no longer govern effectively. It is time to send legislative leaders who will put partisanship aside and focus on the needs of Missourians, like lowering everyday costs for seniors, families, and businesses.
  • Our children are the future of our state, and yet we consistently rank lowest in terms of funding our education system and paying our educators. For Missouri to remain economically competitive and to ensure its students are educated, we need to invest in our classrooms, to raise teacher pay, and to maintain 5-day school weeks for every student in Missouri.
  • We must remove legislators from our doctors' offices. Decisions on healthcare should be left to the patient, not someone in Jefferson City. We need to repeal the extreme government ban on reproductive freedoms and protect patients privacy and rights to healthcare, including IVF and Plan B.
Matt is passionate about improving the funding and quality of our public schools, restoring reproductive freedoms, and investing in the middle class.
Successful officeholders know that they have two ears and one mouth, and they should be used in that proportion. Officeholders must listen to constituents and learn about their needs and how they can be addressed. Officeholders must listen to their elected peers and try to find common grounds despite competing interests. They must speak up when they learn of injustice or inequalities impacting Missouri citizens.

I am running for office because I know that I can listen to and learn from the people of Missouri. I have years of experience finding common grounds despite opposing interests. At a time when we need to set aside partisanship, listen to our citizens, and find common solutions to the issues facing the state, I am the right candidate to help bridge the political divide.
I support our current ballot initiative process. When legislators fail to act, the process provides a fair method for individuals to stand together and raise their voice. Recently, there have been attempts to reform this process by adding obstacles and increase the difficulty of such initiatives. We cannot obstruct or take away the voice of the citizens. Instead, we need to ensure that ballot initiatives continue to uphold the principle of one-person, one-vote.
