My name is Matthew Adams, and I am an educator and community organizer, who has spent his career working to uplift others and tackle the tough challenges we face.

As a teacher, I have taught middle school and high school students in mathematics, science, and social studies, working every day to prepare the next generation for success. My experiences across the state of California, from the Bay Area to the Central Valley, have deepened my understanding of what today’s students and educators need to thrive.

As a Regional Field Organizer for Equality California, I led voter registration and education campaigns, recruiting and training volunteers for phone-banking, text-banking, and canvassing efforts across the Central Valley in support of candidates that shared the values of working on behalf of our LGBTQ+ community.

Additionally, I've worked on campaigns all across our state, leading campaign efforts across the Central Valley, Bay Area, and Sacramento. Whether it's canvassing neighborhoods, organizing events, or working with volunteers, I am committed to ensuring every voice is heard.
  • Getting Money Out of Politics Far too often, the voices of everyday Californians are drowned out by corporate lobbyists and billion-dollar interests. I’m running as a candidate who refuses corporate PAC money, and I want to pursue campaign finance reform and greater transparency so that every voter has confidence their representative is working for them, not the highest bidder.
  • Housing and Affordability We’re in a crisis that touches every corner of District 9. Families are being priced out of their own communities. I want to expand affordable housing, push for tenant protections, and support smart, sustainable growth that allows working families, seniors, and young people to live with dignity. This means holding developers accountable while also making it easier to build affordable units and invest in infrastructure that supports them.
  • Education and Workforce Development As an educator myself, I’ve seen firsthand the power of public schools to transform lives. I want to strengthen funding for K–12 education, ensure smaller class sizes, and support teachers so they can focus on what matters most: their students. At the same time, I want to expand access to vocational training and apprenticeships so that young people in our district can step into good-paying, stable careers without being forced to leave home.

An elected official should do their best to make a better world through their actions and priorities. If you can't look at what you're doing and say "What I'm doing is helping people" then you are in the wrong line of work.
I hope that after my time on this earth has ended, my story is one of assistance and community building. The time we have should be spent in service to others as much as possible. I hope to help as many people as I can with the time I have, and that's why I am running for office.
