Matthew Harrington (Republican Party) is a member of the Maine State Senate, representing District 33. He assumed office on December 6, 2022. His current term ends on December 1, 2026.
Harrington (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Maine State Senate to represent District 33. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Matthew Harrington lives in Sanford, Maine.[1] Harrington earned an A.S. in fire science from Southern Maine Community College in 2007 and a B.A. in criminology from the University of Southern Maine in 2010. His career experience includes working as a police officer with the Town of Kennebunk, Maine, and a firefighter/EMT with the Towns of Windham, Maine, and Gray, Maine.[2] Harrington has served on the board of Sanford Mainers and has been affiliated with the Kora Temple, the Sanford Elks Club, and the Maine Association of Police.[1]

2015
A special election for the position of Maine House of Representatives District 19 was called for November 3. Candidates were nominated by parties rather than chosen in primaries and had until August 28 to nominate their candidates.[7]
The seat was vacant following William Noon's (D) death on July 15, 2015.[8]
Matthew Harrington (R) defeated Jean Noon (D) and Victor DiGregorio (I) in the special election.[9][10]
2014
Elections for the Maine House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 10, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for party candidates wishing to run in this election was March 17, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the primary election was April 28, 2014, and the deadline for non-party candidates to run in the general election was June 2, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the general election was September 22, 2014. District 144 incumbent William Noon was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Sarah Cognata was unopposed in the Republican primary but withdrew afterwards; Matthew Harrington was selected as her replacement. Noon defeated Harrington in the general election.[11][12][13][14]
