Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Matt was born the second of three children in Fort Wayne, Indiana and lived out in the country near Auburn, Indiana until he was 18. At 18, his family moved to Carmel, Indiana due to a career opportunity for his father. He graduated from Westfield high school in 2008. He has a love for American History and will spend some of his spare time watching documentaries and reading articles about history.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• I am pro 2nd Amendment and will not vote in favor of any gun control bill.
• I am pro life and will fight against abortion laws
• I will vote in favor of extending the 2017 tax cuts.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

2nd Amendment-I believe any gun control bill and/or law is a violation of the 2nd Amendment. I will fight my hardest to protect the 2nd Amendment and will adamantly oppose any gun control bill.

Pro Life-Abortion is murder. I am for getting rid of it in its entirety. I will start by proposing a bill that will make all abortions illegal once the baby has a heartbeat. I will continue to propose anti-abortion policies. Furthermore, I do not believe Planned Parenthood should receive any money from tax payer dollars.

Tax Cuts-The 2017 tax cuts should be made permanent. Further tax cuts should be put in place as well.

Border Security-I support the wall and border security and am against illegal immigration. I would also propose a bill to place a tax on all money transfers leaving the United States to other countries with focus on transfers to Mexico. This would be the only exception to my anti-tax views.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My father. He is greatest man I have ever known. He is a hard worker and fights for what is right. I endeavor everyday to follow his example.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am a fighter. I do not back down when things get tough. I have over 16 years in the customer service field and know how to listen and anticipate the needs of others.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To truly represent their constituents and not lose touch with them. They must fight for who they represent and never back down or buckle under pressure.

What legacy would you like to leave?

If elected, I will serve the people of my district. I will want my legacy to be that I did everything in my power to accomplish that.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I vaguely remember the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. However the first historic and tragic event that I remember in great detail was the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Pizza Hut. I worked there for almost 10 years.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The White Shark by Peter Benchley. It is an interesting story that combines some elements of his other work Jaws a long with WW2 history and some science fiction.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Jean-Luc Picard

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Muse-Uprising

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

Not necessarily. Sometimes politicians can have too much experience. Some members of both houses of congress have been in different political offices for decades. This has caused many of them to fall out of touch with their constituents.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

My goal is to represent Hoosier interests and values. While I would not rule out serving on a committee, my main goal would be representing the people of my district.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I am absolutely in favor of term limits. Presidents have them. So should members of congress.

If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?

As I have previously stated, my main goal would be to represent the people of my district. I would not be against in being apart of the Republican leadership but that is not my main goal.
