What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
When elected my top 3 priorities are: 1.) Property taxes. Property taxes, in addition to other state taxes, are placing a financial burden on residents within the 37th District. Majority of the property tax bill encompasses the local community funding schools. Increasing state funding for education should help alleviate the rise of local property taxes. 2.) School Funding. I believe that education is the key to getting ahead in life, and I will fight to get fair funding for our schools. I'll ensure that our region receives the resources that our children need to succeed and get a good job, whether that's college, trade school, or other job training. 3.). Mental Health Funding. It is evident in our community that hospital emergency rooms are becoming overcrowded due to patients with mental illnesses. With the closure of our local mental health hospital, the state must invest more money in providing care to those struggling with a mental illness.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Given my business and educational background I have a passion for Economic Affairs. We have all felt the results of what happens in the absence of a State Budget. Without a State Budget we cannot fund so many of our State's vital programs such as funding our schools, fix our infrastructure, mental health funding nor take care of our veterans. We, as a legislature, cannot allow that to happen again. Additionally, I am drawn to Education Policy. As a father of two children, I understand that having well-funded schools is crucial so that every child has a great education and the chance at a good paying job-whether they choose to go to college or not. I am committed to fight to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to a first-class education and restore funding for colleges and universities throughout our State.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
For me, the most critical principal for any elected official to have is the ability to put party politics aside. I firmly believe that it is time to put people before party politics.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am running for the Illinois House of Representatives as I believe that career politicians run Springfield and have put politics first and people last. It is time we put the people before the party politics, and that is what I am committed do. I am committed to changing the Springfield culture and be a representative for the people of the 37th District.
