Elections for the New York State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on September 9, 2014. The general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Incumbent Kenneth Zebrowski defeated Pottakulathu T. Thomas in the Democratic primary, while Matthew I. Brennan was unopposed in the Republican primary. Zebrowski also ran on the Working Families Party and Preserve Hudson Party (PHP) tickets. Zebrowski defeated Brennan in the general election.[5][6][7]

Brennan ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 96. He was due to run unopposed in the Republican primary on September 13, 2012, but his petition was ruled invalid beforehand. Incumbent Kenneth P. Zebrowski ran unopposed in the Democratic primary; he also ran on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Matthew T. Katchmar also had his petition invalidated, leaving Zebrowski to run unopposed in the Independence primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[8][9][10]
