Matthew J. Murphy III was a judge for the County and Surrogate's courts of Niagara County, New York. He was first elected to the court in 2007 and retired from the court on December 31, 2021.[1][2]

Murphy earned a B.A. from St. John Fisher College and a J.D. from Union University, Albany Law School. His professional experience includes work for the U.S. Department of Justice and as the Niagara County district attorney and an attorney in private practice.[1] He also taught criminal and civil trial techniques at the Attorney General's Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C.[3]
