Matthew Justin Wilson

Matthew Justin Wilson is a judge for the First Judicial District of New Mexico. He was appointed by Governor Susana Martinez in October 2013 to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Steve D. Pfeffer. He ran for election to a six-year term in 2014, but was defeated in the Democratic primary. Wilson then ran unopposed for the family court position (Division 9) on the First Judicial District.[1][2][3]

Wilson ran for re-election to the First Judicial District.
Primary: He was defeated in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 32.3 percent of the vote. He competed against David Thomson and Yvonne Kathleen Quintana.
General: Wilson then ran unopposed and won election to the family court position (Division 9) on the New Mexico First Judicial District Court[2][4]
Education
Wilson earned a B.A. in history from the University of California at Santa Cruz and his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law.[5]
Career
Prior to his judicial appointment, Wilson was a domestic relations hearing officer for the First Judicial District. In the past, he also served as the special assistant attorney general for New Mexico's Human Services Department and as a prosecutor in Alamogordo for the District Attorney's Office.[1]
