Matthew O. Simmons
Matthew O. Simmons is a former chief judge of the Clayton Judicial Circuit in Georgia.[1] He joined the court in 1993 and retired on December 31, 2016.[2]
Education
Simmons received both his undergraduate degree and his J.D. from the University of Georgia in 1976 and 1979, respectively.[3] He received his master's degree from Emory University in 1983.
Career
Simmons was a private practice attorney before taking the bench. He also served as a city councilman and mayor for Forest Park, Georgia.[3]
2012 election

Simmons ran unopposed for re-election to the Clayton Superior Court.[4] He was re-elected after receiving 99.7 percent of the vote in the July 31 election.[5]
