Fullerton and its people are important to me. I want to help build a safe city, with well-maintained roads, with top schools, with police and fire protection, with a thriving business environment, and most importantly, with compassion and support for all of our residents and visitors.

With over a century of history in Fullerton, my family has been dedicated to our neighbors and a belief in the promise of our community, the City of Fullerton.

My maternal grandfather was known in the community as "An Aggressive Force for Good." Despite his involvement in numerous community and civic organizations in Fullerton, he was arrested in 1924 for shouting down the speaker at a KKK rally in Amerige Park. A cross was burned on his front lawn that night.

My mother was born and raised in Fullerton. I was born in Fullerton. I raised my child here and sent them through Fullerton public schools from K-12. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Economics.

I aspire to live up to my family legacy and be an aggressive force for good for the city and people of Fullerton. I will stand up for what is right and aim to bring our community together around compassion and common sense.

I bring a combination of managerial expertise and hands-on action to drive successful projects and help grow companies. I will bring the same business savvy, economic focus and budgetary acumen to the City of Fullerton.
  • For several decades I have worked as a technology and management expert in the business world, supporting teams of all sizes in different industries from aerospace to telephony to mortgage lending to many aspects of the medical field. For the last 11 plus years, I worked with a company focused on providing medical exams to veterans so they can get the disability benefits they deserve after their sacrifices to our country. I bring a combination of managerial expertise and hands-on action to drive successful projects and help grow companies. I will bring the same business savvy, economic focus and budgetary acumen to the City of Fullerton.
  • My opponent has prioritized fund raising from large donors outside of Fullerton. I will always put the good of the people of Fullerton and the City of Fullerton as the only driver behind my decisions. I will be fact based, evidenced based and make my decisions based on the best available options, not what a large donor would like me to do.
  • It is time to focus on our city, on our roads, on our infrastructure on our people. We cannot afford to ignore the will of our people. We should be aggressively searching out grants and other sources of funding to improve our infrastructure without bankrupting our city.
Better handling of our city budget to implement intelligent planning to:
  • Improve our roads and infrastructure,
  • Handle our homeless population with intelligence and compassion,
  • Save and expand pedestrian and bicycle friendly areas like the Walk on Wilshire.
My mother's father, Dan O'Hanlon, moved to Fullerton in 1920. In 1924, the Ku Klux Klan was very popular in Orange County and they held a rally in Fullerton. He went there, not to support them but to challenge them. After repeatedly calling the speaker a liar, he was threatened with 'tar and feathering', 'beatings' and even lynching before HE was arrested. They burned a cross on his lawn later that night.

Later in life, he was described as "An Aggressive Force for Good"

I aspire to live up to my family legacy and be an aggressive force for good for the city and people of Fullerton. I will stand up for what is right and aim to bring our community together around compassion and common sense, even when it is difficult.
On average I read more than a book a week, non-fiction, science, science fiction, general fiction, etc. There is no one book that captures my political philosophy. Reading a wide variety or sometimes conflicting opinions is important to me.
Fiscal responsibility

Transparency and openness
Willingness to listen and learn

Compassion and empathy

Balance the needs to the city government to keep to its budgetary restrictions while focusing on the top priorities to the city.

Listen to the people of Fullerton and, where possible, follow their lead more than trying to dictate to them

Regardless of how a decision is made, the rationale for those decisions should be made public, and not hidden in some backroom deals
I aspire to live up to my family legacy and be an aggressive force for good for the city and people of Fullerton. I will stand up for what is right and aim to bring our community together around compassion and common sense, even when it is difficult.
I was a lifeguard at LA County pools every summer from the end of high school through college graduation.
Plastivore by Matt Truxaw because I wrote it.

Other than that, I read a LOT and so it's hard to pick just one, but a few that I love:

  • The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
  • Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carrol
  • The Sherlock Holmes stories by A. Conan Doyle
  • pretty much anything by Robert A. Heinlein

Several local teachers and other local citizens of Fullerton
Financial transparency is near the top of my list and is one of the main reasons I am running. I do not feel my opponent has been transparent in his official and personal financial dealings. While there is nothing technically wrong with this, I want to avoid even the smell of undue influence from donors and other sources.
