Biography
Matthew Worthington was born in San Antonio, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University in 2008, a graduate degree from George Mason University in 2011, and a graduate degree from the University of Texas Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in 2019.[1]

|- ON PUBLIC EDUCATION, our campaign will advocate for: 1) Equitable and adequate school funding that can ensure Texas students thrive; 2) Ensuring districts with greater poverty have access to resources they need; 3) Prioritizing funding for public schools. Not state agencies or privatization efforts; 4) Ensuring educators earn livable wages and grow in their profession; 5) Increasing funding for subsidized early childhood initiatives and child care in Texas.
- ON IMPROVING INFRASTRUCTURE, our campaign will advocate for: 1) Requiring weatherization of all Texas energy production and ban exemption loopholes; 2) Funding critical water quality improvement projects so everyone has sufficient access to clean water in District 51; 3) Increasing the number of clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies in District 51; 4) Expanding access to healthy and affordable foods in District 51.
- ON CIVIL RIGHTS, our campaign will advocate for: 1) Increasing voter participation rates across Texas by making it easier to vote; 2) Expanding protections and rights for all LGBTQIA+ Texans. 3) Ban vigilante systems of justice like SB8's abortion ban and increase access to reproductive health care.
