2017

Jones' campaign website included the following themes:

FOOD ACCESS
Food is essential to life. We all must eat and what we eat is key to our overall development and health. That is why access to fresh healthy foods rich in nutrients is important.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Once there is food in your stomach, a roof over your head, and knowledge in your brain you are significantly more prepared to participate in the workplace.

We can begin to regrow small business and entrepreneurship in North Omaha by supporting the dreams and ideas of our neighbors and meeting the needs of the community. If we were to increase funding for incubator programs for small business and communal ventures, we could potentially see a great increase in local job opportunities.

SUITABLE HOUSING
Shelter is another fundamental for life. We all need a place to protect us from the elements, to rest our heads, and to bring our families together. If housing is not affordable, safe, or reliable it is more difficult to work beyond making ends meet.

North Omaha has an abundance of opportunities to reinvest and explore housing methods to ensure people have a place to call home and are not left in the cold. For example, we could explore incentives for local repair businesses to help fix problems within homes at an affordable rate and prevent issues from becoming more dangerous and expensive.

IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURE
Omaha is an expansive city that is difficult to conveniently travel if you do not have a car. This is an active monetary and physical barrier for many, but especially for citizens of North Omaha.

We must work to improve our public transit to be more effective and reliable in addition to making our sidewalks and roads more accommodating for bicycles, wheelchairs, and other forms of mobility. Infrastructure rebuilding would also serve as an employment opportunity for local construction, demolition, engineering, and planning businesses.

EDUCATION EXPLORATION
Without knowledge, we know nothing. Education and information are what enable us to make smart choices, positive decisions, and effective changes in and around our lives.

Currently, teaching methods are limited by test scores and static standards. Our community needs school and training alternatives that help people find what they are passionate about, teach to their strengths, and motivate them to use their abilities for themselves and the world. Expanding technical trade schooling, after-school arts and sciences programming, and community-led classes be one way to diversify education.

ACCOUNTABLE REPRESENTATION
Public officials like council members and the mayor are elected to be a clear voice for the people they represent. We need leaders who are transparent with their motives, thinking, and actions when making decisions that affect people's lives.

We also need leaders who hold themselves and their peers accountable, listen attentively, work persistently, and always act for justice and equity. We can increase transparency by using technology to improve communication, notification, and participation between the council and the greater Omaha community.[2][3]
