I believe my deep connection to the Richmond community is one of my greatest strengths. I’ve lived the challenges our residents face, and that drives my commitment to serve all citizens fairly and be a voice for those who often go unheard. Losing my mother at a young age and missing the support of family during my adolescence shaped my resilience and dedication. Rather than focusing on what I didn’t have, I’ve always focused on what I did and do have, improvising and persevering through adversity. As a first-generation college graduate and entrepreneur, I’ve worked hard to overcome obstacles and remain committed to making a positive impact on this city. My integrity and accountability are central to who I am; I believe in being transparent and earning the trust of the people. My experience in criminology, social justice advocacy, and community organizing equips me to tackle Richmond’s toughest challenges. As a board member of a local federal credit union, I understand the importance of economic responsibility and fiscal stewardship. My personal journey gives me the empathy to connect with our residents and ensure their needs are always prioritized. These qualities, I believe, will make me a successful and transformative mayor for Richmond.

Being a mayor means being a true leader who is deeply connected to the community he comes from. It’s about being someone who genuinely understands the lives and challenges of the people because he shares those same experiences. A mayor should be more than just a figurehead; they should be a representative of every resident, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.
