I have been a Harris County resident for over 26 years. I have handled all types of cases from traffic tickets to capital murder death penalty appeals. I have worked in our legal system in criminal courts at every level. I am the only candidate in this race to have served our community as a prosecutor and public defender, and the only candidate with a balanced perspective. I am the candidate of the community, for the community with a history of service, humility, and justice for all.
  • My first priority if elected is to translate all frequently used court documents into the three most-spoken languages in Houston other than English (Spanish, Chinese, & Vietnamese). This change will ensure people can better understand and thus better abide by their bond conditions, keeping them in compliance with court orders and making the community safer.
  • My second priority is to bring more accessibility and transparency to Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 7 by expanding access to the court via Zoom for everyone handling court-related business, and live-streaming court proceedings for the general public to allow the community to keep me accountable, both things that are currently limited by the current judge in the court.
  • Treating people with dignity and with respect is not something that can be learned over years of practice. These are traits that are learned through one’s upbringing and life experiences. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to practice before remarkable judges, and the common thread between all of them always was the way they treated people. Judges should be fair and impartial, and repect all parties in their court. My background and life experiences have taught me to be humble, and always be of service. If elected, I intend to restore decorum to the court a d treat everyone with dignity and respect.
I am passionate about being a public servant to the community who helped raise me. If elected, my job as a judge is to follow the law, rather than legislating from the bench. No matter what the issue or who the parties are, judges should always lead by the power of our example, rather than by the example of our power. Judgea should lead with humility. It is my hope that I am electrd this March as well as in November in order to ensure we have that type of leader on the bench of Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 7.
