Max is a Conservative Libertarian running on the Republican ticket for North Carolina's 7th Congressional District seat. He is a red-blooded, blue-collar, worker who knows what it is like to be impoverished and what it takes to get back on track. In 2009, Max decided to join the family business, but that business was not what most people would think. Max joined the Marine Corps, making him an 8th generation Marine. Besides the Marines, his family members consist of men and women who have served in the Army, Air Force and Navy, truly the embodiment of a family of warriors that stood up and served their country every time the United States called. Max decided to run for Congress because of the turmoil over this last year compounded with President Biden's ineffective and inept leadership. If that wasn't enough, the rampant corruption and overspending in Congress should give every American pause to question our leadership. The trillions of dollars spent in foreign conflicts and the longest war in modern history demand being addressed NOW. The cramming of socialist policies into every bill to hide the fact they are robbing us of our taxpayer dollars for things most Americans do not support or could care less for. It needs to stop NOW, or our Republic will be no more. Max is the best candidate from either party who truly represents the ideals, values and ethics of the great and hardworking people of North Carolina.
  • Term Limits
  • Accountability for Corrupt Politicians and Bureaucrats
  • School Choice and Expansion of Charter and Trade Schools
One of the first pieces of legislation Max will introduce is called "The Corrupt Politicians and Bureaucrats Accountability Act". This bill will force Congress to have a annual forensic audit of their financial accounts, stock dealings, lobbyist connections, telephone/email communications, etc. over the last fiscal year by independent auditors. Next, it will require that if any oddities or potential crimes are found during the audit of an individual, that person will be required to temporarily step down from all committees and subcommittees during the investigation. Finally, if found in criminal violation of federal law, the Sergeant of Arms will remove that person from the Halls of Congress, and turn them over to Capitol Police for processing. Case and point of politician who should be out of office and potentially in jail is California Representatives Eric Swalwell.
This is a hard one because more than one person has influenced me, but I will name the top three. First would be Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt our 26th President of these United States. Teddy Roosevelt was not only a warrior, but a great statesmen and conservative. While he was a conservative, today he would be more in the line with constitutional libertarianism.

Second is a father/son mix because both paved the way for libertarians in Congress. I am of course talking about Rep. Ron Paul and his son Senator Rand Paul.

Third and final person who influenced me is the man you raised me, my stepfather Charles Beckwith. I did not have video games growing up so it was either go outside and play, or inside reading. I developed my passion for reading from him and while we did not have a lot of money, whenever I needed a new book I got one. Around the age nine was when I was first introduced to political theory. I wanted a new book but my stepfather made a deal with me "I'll buy you this book, but you have to read one that I pick first." From then on I would get my science fiction or fantasy book to read, but every other book was about history or politics. For example I had read Niccolo Machiavelli's 'The Prince', George Orwell's 'Animal Farm', and Ray Bradbury's 'Fahrenheit 451' by the time when I was ten. It was this love of reading that we shared that drove me into the higher tier of literature much younger than most of my peers, and helped me through my undergraduate studies immensely.
John Locke's "An Essay Concerning Human Understanding". George Orwell's "Animal Farm" and "1984"
- Justice, Judgment, Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Enthusiasm, Bearing, Unselfishness, Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty, Endurance

These are also the 14 Leadership Traits of the Marine Corps.
Honor and integrity, faithfulness to duty and "esprit de corps" with my fellow North Carolinians.
Semper Fidelis, which means "Always Faithful". Always faithful to your constituents, to your oath of office, to the Constitution of the United States, and to your own moral compass. If politicians were to follow this simple moto, we would have representatives to whom we could admire and respect. Unfortunately this is a key problem with politicians who have never served a higher power other than their own pocket book.
I would like to leave a legacy that entailed campaign finance reform, installing term limits, reducing the deficit and getting the nation back in the black. I would like to believe that when I leave office, I can say I did good by my fellow Americans. My legacy hopefully would be one that pushes Congress to return to the principles spelled out in President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address: "...government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
Most memorable historical moment that I can vividly remember is the attack on 9/11. I was in the 6th grade so i was 11 years old.
My first official job was when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a 1371 Combat Engineer in 2009. I served four years, two combat tours in Helmand Province in Afghanistan, and was Honorably Discharged in 2013.
Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo". Greatest revenge story of all time, and one of the greatest protagonists in literature.
My struggle has been one with myself. I did not have a rosey childhood, and after the Marine Corps I suffered like many veterans once leaving military service. Fortunately, I had a good base of friends and family who helped me and I am the man I am today due to my trials and tribulations. I still struggle with the inner turmoil but it is now more of a reminder than a hindrance. It is a reminder that everyone has hardships that shape who they are, and it is a reminder that I am one of the lucky ones and my brothers and sisters still struggle. This is a driving force for me and one of the many reasons I decided to throw my hat into the ring.
It holds several powers that are unique to the U.S. House of Representatives. In layman terms it holds the nation's purse, giving it the power to initiate revenue bills. It also holds the ability to impeach federal officials, and elect the President in case of an Electoral College tie.
No. Were in the Constitution does it state that one of the qualifications to hold office at the federal level is prior experience in government or politics? The argument can be made that we currently have a system primarily of elected officials who have been politicians prior to holding federal office; and look where we are as a nation. We have politicians who care more for the office they hold, then the people who elected them too it. Career politicians making poor decisions for the nation because they are in the pocket of bureaucrats, lobbyists and special interest groups. No, we need term limits and we need elected officials who are of the people, and not career politicians.
Social Media impediment on free speech will be one of the biggest challenges in the next decade. We need to reign in not only the Government overreach, but Social Media's overreach. These companies continue to abuse people’s freedoms and are now working with the government to monitor people who disagree with them. By selectively excluding persons while including others they agree with politically, they are practicing open discrimination.

While Facebook is a private company, it’s services are monopolistic, selective, pejorative and non-compliant with accepted social media practices and expectations. Their platform places them into the category of Public Goods. With the fact that Social Media services are deemed as Public Goods, and now are deputized by the current government to constrict free speech, monitor and report on Americans which violates their individual constitutional rights, they should be confined to the same laws and restrictions as non-private entities.

Newspapers and other media are held to account by the FCC and other agencies because they have editors who monitor information for public dispensation. Social media crossed the line into the realm of those entities that may be regulated by section 230 which states as follows;

Section 230 says that "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider" (47 U.S.C. § 230). In other words, online intermediaries that host or republish speech are protected against a range of laws that might otherwise be used to hold them legally responsible for what others say and do.

In effect, as arbiters, editors and selective punishment of speech they disagree with., social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter and others are, by their actions, violating the law as stipulated. Section 230 protection must be stripped away from all social media platforms who engage in editorial discrimination.
House Oversight and Reform Committee, House Armed Services Committee,
House Veterans' Affairs Committee, and House Budget Committee.
No. Should be four years. Every election, Representatives win and have to immediately start campaigning again because they are running again in less than two years. (2) Four years terms gives Representatives time to actually do their job.
My policy on Term Limits is (2) four year terms for House, (2) six year terms for Senate; a total of 20 years in Congress. Half of House a Representatives and 1/3 of Senate will be elected every midterm; this will give the midterms closer to equal weight as the general election. This will be one of the first bills I will introduce to Congress. Regardless if I am able to get Term Limits passed during my time in Congress, I will hold myself to the Term Limits I have laid out.
Representatives Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordans and Ron Paul are all people I like. I believe all of them are true fighters who fight for the people and uphold the Constitution.
I have talked to a number of residents who have to scrape together money to make home repairs after a hurricane because they are not eligible for a full replacement policy. Under the North Carolina Joint Underwriters Association - North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCJUA-NCIUA) insurance programs (and most major carriers), homes that do not have current/up-to-code major systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC and roofs), are typically not eligible for a replacement-cost policy.

So the next time a named storm comes, those homeowners are often left with damages to their property that they cannot afford. This is a current and long overlooked issue, specifically in Wilmington's Historic District and low-income neighborhoods. One of my goals is to push for grant programs in NC's Coastal Counties, specifically to allow lower-income families to make the much needed, basic home improvements required for them to qualify for replacement cost wind/hail insurance.
Frank Lloyd Wright Quote

Bureaucrats: they are dead at 30 and buried at 60. They are like custard pies; you can't nail them to a wall.
Of course, but it is a matter of degrees. If compromise allows for temporary relief yet long term hardships, then it is not a good compromise. For example, the deficit spending over the last 20 years, the push to raise the debt ceiling despite being 28 Trillion dollars in debt, and the complete disregard for the American people are all examples of what poor "compromise" gets us. Nothing is paid for when the nations budget deficit is 3.1 Trillion and our nation's Debt to GDP ratio is 125.84%.

While compromise and bipartisanship is the ideal policy to take, it can not continue so long as politicians keep wasteful spending at the cost of the American people's paycheck.
It would play a huge roll because I want to stop overspending, start paying off our debt, stop the 400 Billion dollars a year that go to over 200 nations, most of whom use the money we gave them for terrorist activities against us or our allies. I would push to reform how we spend money, give incentives to organizations to save money instead of spending every penny of their budget every fiscal year.
