May 30, 2013: Georgia runoff process under fire
May 30, 2013
Atlanta, Georgia: Georgia's recall process will need to be modified due to a decision by U.S. Circuit Judge Steve C. Jones ruling that the 21 or 28 day period between elections and runoffs in Georgia does not meet the federal minimum of 45 days. The current federal minimum is set to ensure time for military personnel and overseas citizens to vote. Any change to the election code would need to be adopted by the Georgia State Legislature, which has already adjourned its 2013 session.[1]
