Efforts in Electra, Texas, to recall Mayor Pam Ward and City Commissioners Kevin Byrd and Ricky Kelley from their positions were launched in December 2015. Recall supporters

The recall effort was initiated in response to the firing of Electra Police Chief Michael Hopkins. Supporters cited abuse in office and incompetence on their recall petitions.[1]

Supporters needed at least 100 signatures from registered voters in the city for each office up for recall. KFDX reported that petitions for Kelley and Byrd each contained at least 150 valid signatures, while KAUX reported 163 signatures were approved by the city commission.[1] Kelley and Byrd had until a commission meeting on December 29, 2015, to resign or face recall elections in May 2016.[5]
