An effort in Metolius, Oregon, to recall Mayor Carl Elliott and councilmembers Patty Wyler, Dan Dulaney, and Denise Keeton was initiated in July 2020.[1] The recall election did not make it to the ballot.
Background
The recall effort was organized by a group called Friends of Metolius in response to a vote on July 6, 2020, by the city council to put a wooden train on display outside of city hall. That train was built by Richard Pickett, who was convicted of child sex abuse and child pornography.[2] On July 16, 2020, the city had the train destroyed and sent to a landfill.[3]
