Efforts to recall Mayor Joe Hartz and city council members Stephanie Wanek, Ted Hughes, Leonard Miller and Dale Wilkinson in Neligh, Nebraska, from their positions were launched in June 2015.[1] The recall against Hartz did not go to a vote because supporters of the recall turned in no signatures against him.[2] The recalls against the four city council members failed.[3]

Recall supporters

The officials were targeted for recall over supporting the annexation of pieces of property. Citizens organizing the recall alleged that the council did not consider all the costs before voting.[1]

Supporters had until September 30, 2015, to submit 189 signatures against the mayor and 163 against each council member in order to move the recall forward.[4] Recall leaders turned in petitions containing signatures against all four city council members, but none against the mayor.[2]
