Efforts in Surrey, North Dakota, to recall Mayor Jason Strand and Councilwoman Karla Walsh were initiated in August 2019. On August 13, 2019, Strand resigned as mayor.[1] A recall election against Walsh took place on December 17, 2019.[2] Walsh was removed from her position as a result of the recall vote.[3]

Recall supporters
Recall organizers initiated the efforts against Strand and Walsh in response to the resignation of deputy auditor Jennifer Johns, over budget legal expenses, and issues with open meeting laws during committee meetings.[1]
