An effort in Brighton, Colorado, to recall Mayor Ken Kreutzer was initiated in July 2019. Petitioners submitted enough signatures to put the recall election on the ballot.[1] The recall election was held on November 5, 2019, and Kreutzer was removed from office as a result of the vote.[2]

Recall supporters

The recall effort began in response to the firing of City Manager Philip Rodriguez, who accused the city of accumulating $70 million for water projects gathered through water overcharges. Rodriguez was put on administrative leave and later removed from his position in a 5-4 vote from the city council.[3]

Recall organizers were required to submit 1,136 valid signatures. There were 1,782 signatures submitted, and the city clerk confirmed on August 12 that enough signatures were found valid to put the recall on the ballot.[1]
