McPherson appointed to Minnesota's 10th Judicial District

Minnesota: Gov. Dayton appointed Catherine McPherson to Minnesota's 10th Judicial District Court on September 15, 2011. McPherson is currently the head of operations for the Anoka County Attorney’s Office and will replace retired Judge Dale E. Mossey on the court. She ran unsuccessfully for a District Court judgeship in November of 2010, placing second out of 24 candidates. After that, she applied to for the District Court vacancy in Wright County to which she was appointed. The Governor stated, "Ms. McPherson will make an excellent judge; she brings a high level of professionalism and diverse legal experience to the bench, as well as a strong commitment to community service."[1]

McPherson is a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law. She worked as an assistant Hennepin County Attorney and an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College prior to joining the Anoka County Attorney’s Office in 1999. She has also worked as a mediator in Anoka County. She expects to take office as judge in six to eight weeks once she wraps up her work at the attorney's office.[2]
