Meagan resides with her husband and two young boys in Rockford, MI. She currently works for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as Governance Analyst, and has a Masters in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University.
  • Promoting bodily autonomy in all aspects of healthcare
  • Promoting civil rights for all residents
  • Promoting quality and safe education for all students
Healthcare policy is my number one passion with 15 years of experience in the healthcare field. I am also passionate about education, civil rights, and responsible gun ownership.
One person I hold in high regard is Cecile Richards, former CEO of Planned Parenthood. Her book, Make Trouble, inspired me to put in the work and raise my voice to accomplish what is right, even if it may not be popular.
There are too many books to narrow the list down to a few, but from a historical perspective I feel like align most closely to our founding fathers A. Hamilton, G. Washington, and a bit of B. Franklin. For 20th century leaders, I would say I align most with F. Roosevelt, J. Kennedy, and J. Carter. For modern leaders, I would say I align most with B. Obama, H. Clinton, and E. Warren.
Represent your constituents in a manner that is honest to the platform you ran on. A legislators should also listen to and work with their constituents that may not agree with them.
That I spoke up, and always tried my best to do what was right.
Red Rising and Dune. Both are Sci-Fi trilogies that deal with interesting concepts in politics and governance. I highly recommend both to anyone looking for a good space opera to read.
My money don't jiggle jiggle, it folds
I have narcolepsy, which has been a huge obstacle I have had to overcome in both academics as well as professionally. It has allowed me to be more understanding and compassionate to others around me that may also be going through their own struggles.
Equal power and effort to design and update policies as the needs of the state require.
Strengthening the middle class through increased economic opportunities, greater access to higher education, and a reduced tax burden.

Better protection of all residents' civil rights.

Protection and strengthening of democracy, both at the state and national level.
Some of the benefits would be decreased administrative costs, increased efficiency, and simpler term lengths and election cycles.

Some of the drawbacks would be decreased representation and increased political power to fewer individuals. There would also be less balance in the power of our political parties.
Yes. I believe legislators should be professionalized so that our representatives actually know what they are doing before they get to Lansing. This would also help decrease the power of lobbyist groups as our representatives wouldn't have to depend on them as heavily to write laws for them.
Yes. We need everyone working together and forming solutions together if we want our state to be the best out can be.
I am in favor for fair and balanced districting so that our elections are actually competitive and our representatives actually have a reason to listen to all of their constituents.
I would be most interested in serving on committees with a focus on healthcare, education, and civil rights.
Most of the stories I am hearing are in regards to the unsustainable raising costs of living. Residents are feeling this at the pump, at the grocery store, and at the pharmacy. Many families are in dire need of help, and we cannot afford to ignore these needs any longer.
I told my doctor I broke my arm in two places......

..... he said to stop going to those places
For the most part yes, but there also needs to be a balance of this power in the case when the legislature refuses to act for purely political reasons, and not in the best interest of our residents.
Absolutely! No single person has all of the answers for today's musst pressing issues, so we must all work together to solve them and do what is best for our state and all the residents that call Michigan home.

I am a Democratic candidate with a background in Public and Healthcare Administration. I have a Masters in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University, and am currently employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a Senior Analyst. I am a resident of Rockford where I reside with my husband and two rambunctious boys ages 4 and 1.
  • Healthcare should be recognized as a right.
  • Our citizens deserve less partisan politics, and more working together for the better of all.
  • Science and facts matter.
Healthcare, education, environment, and equity.
I admire all women who have lived lives of great, unapologetic tenacity, remaining firm in their values despite great adversity. My current list of great women include Cecile Richards, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and the great Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I hope to be able to remain as firm in my beliefs and able to handle the criticism with as much grace as they have.
An elected official must remember at all times that they are there to represent the people. Egos need to be out aside and the betterment of the people must be at the center of everything they do.
I would want to be remembered as a leader that had compassion and empathy for all, that worked tirelessly for those she led, and never remained silent in the face of injustice.
My favorite book right now is actually a trilogy called Red Rising by Pierce Brown. It's a sci-fi dystopian story that deals with segregation, injustice, and complications of morality. I have yet to read any of the books from the sequal trilogy as I'm hoping to wait until the last installment of that is published, but it's getting harder and harder to wait as I am also part of a fan club page on social media and miss all my beloved characters from the novels.

I am also reading the Harry Potter series with my four year old and bonding with him over the fascination of magic has been a fun adventure. We are currently finishing up book six, and I'm going to be so bummed when it's over.
Yes! It is very difficult to write and debate good policies if one does not have the historical knowledge of how and why our government was designed the way it was in the first place. I think this experience, or education, needs to be more robust than what our current grade school education curriculums provide, and I think it also needs to go beyond just understanding our own government but the governments of other nations as well so that we can continue to improve and implement ideas that work the best for our times.
Yes. The best answers and solutions often exist in the realm of the in-between, and the more politically polar our representatives become, the less likely we will be able to find and recognize these best solutions. We need voices from all perspectives, or our solutions will continue to fall flat.
I favor an independent process that results in voting districts that actually represent the voting will of the people. No more politicians choosing their voters.
