Megan Yoo Schneider, MS, PE

  • Sincere and life-long dedication to serving the community
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about water, the environment, and public health issues
  • Committed to promoting sustainable, affordable, and reliable access to clean water for all
As a chemical, environmental, and civil engineer, Megan has not only devoted years to researching, designing, and constructing sustainable projects and solutions for our community, she has also made significant efforts to provide training, education, and support for other water professionals, the public, and the next generation. Megan applies practical knowledge and experience in addition to a deep-rooted passion for sound public policy that evaluates unintended consequences and long-term impacts on our local community. Megan also serves as an adjunct faculty lecturer of environmental policy at Chapman University, and her students can attest to her passion for promoting sound public policy that truly benefits the community long-term.
I look up to my grandfathers who both served the public, my father who spent over 30 years serving the public as a water quality professional, and my father-in-law who also served the public for most of his entire career. I also look up to my mother, who was committed to community service and public health. I'd love to continue their work to serve our community and our public by doing what I love most - which is helping people and helping make a difference by doing what's right.
I will never forget when MWDOC's Ricki the Rambunctious Raindrop came to visit my elementary school classroom. He made such an impact on me that I furthered my passion for water from becoming the neighborhood "mermaid" that lived in the pool to a water researcher in school and eventually a water engineer and professional! I even wrote my college essay about Ricki the Rambunctious Raindrop and how he was my "first love."
My very first job was as an Engineering Student Worker in Operations and Maintenance at the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts. I was with the agency for nearly two years. In addition to working in Operations and Maintenance, I also worked in the Planning Department. It was the best first job ever! I learned so much from it!
