I am a district parent of two students and am highly involved in all of their activities. I do a lot sports-related driving and volunteering for baseball, swim team, and soccer. I am an Educator by profession with a MA in Education from Stanford University and 12+ years of high school teaching experience (the plus refers to my time in various leadership experiences and doing Instructional Coaching). When I relocated my family to MN I decided to leave the classroom and focus on being present for my kids, but I still greatly enjoy being in schools as a parent, volunteer, and Board member. When I have free time, I love to read, garden, and have gone down the sourdough and canning rabbit holes.
  • I am experienced. I have School Board experience and have held both the Chair and Vice Chair positions. I have been part of multiple District committees during my tenure: Teaching and Learning, PTO/A leaders, Special Education Advisory, TonkaCARES, and ECFE/Preschool. I am also an experienced teacher and bring that lens to Board discussions.
  • I am engaged. I come to meetings prepared and ready to ask questions or contribute ideas. I listen to constituents and interact with folks in an effort to both understand multiple viewpoints and relay those to the District at large. And I have promoted transparency so that community members have access to District and Board activity, such as by making study sessions accessible via livestream.
  • I am effective. I have been part of selecting a new superintendent and piloting initiatives such as student board representatives and a shift in AP/IB policy. I bring community feedback to the District and have contributed to improving student nutrition via a Nutrition Advisory Committee and to increasing engagement opportunities for community members.
I am passionate about personalized learning so that all students have academic opportunities that are engaging, challenging, and optimize success. I also feel strongly about belonging and well-being: students who are connected to and included at school are more successful both in school and post-graduation, and school safety is also increased when students feel a sense of community. Nutrition is a personal interest of mine and something I hope to continue promoting in our schools.
Integrity, respect, transparency, and responsiveness.
- To keep focus on the best interest for students. Every vote I make should be based on all information gathered (quantitative and qualitative) and what will lead to the best outcomes for all 11000+ students in our district.

- To make sure the superintendent is making progress on Board Goals.

- To come prepared to be an active participant in all Board activities
The Challenger explosion. I was 7 and because I lived in Alaska and due to the time difference, I saw it on the news before leaving for school. I remember feeling so sad because we had talked at school about a teacher being on board.
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson... it really puts everything in perspective!!
- To set and evaluate District Goals and to evaluate the Superintendent based on progress on those goals.

- To interact with all District constituents to best represent the interests of stakeholders and use their input to guide decisions.

- To set policy that best serves all students in achieving success.
Students and their families (both resident and open-enrolled), staff, alumni, and taxpayers.
