Mel Hall participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 10, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Mel Hall's responses follow below.[1]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1.) I will work tirelessly to help grow good-paying Hoosier jobs right here in northern Indiana. We’ve seen too many jobs go unfilled and even shipped overseas as a result of recent legislation. Hardworking Hoosiers deserve good-paying jobs and higher wages, and I will work every day in Congress to help working families succeed. 2.) We have a current representative who wants to kick folks off health care instead of working to improve it. It’s no secret that the Affordable Care Act is not perfect, but Democrats and Republicans must come together to ensure folks have access to reliable, quality care. I will work across the aisle to drive costs down and ensure that all Hoosier families get the care they need. |

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | I’ve spent my life working to improve health care and provide accountable leadership to my community, whether that was fighting for justice on the streets of Detroit or adding nearly 800 jobs in South Bend. In Congress, my focus will be no different.
When I led Press Ganey, we worked to give voice to the one health care constituency that was so often left out of the conversation: patients. I spent my career working to improve health care and make it more accessible and more responsive to patients’ needs. In Congress, I will work to continue this process and improve our existing health care law. We must ensure that hardworking families have access to the quality, reliable, and affordable care they need. At Press Ganey, just like in Detroit, we were committed to providing accountable leadership. That’s why each month I shared our progress with our associates and heard their feedback, their criticisms, and their ideas for improvement. Accountability has been a core tenet of my life -- and sadly, it’s missing from our current representation. In Congress, I will be an accountable and accessible leader. I will listen to the needs and wants of my community, and I will be held accountable to the people of the Second District.Cite error: Invalid |
