Melanie Dunham currently represents Place 5 on the Georgetown Board of Trustees in Texas. First elected in 2014, Dunham won another term in the general election on May 6, 2017.

Dunham earned her B.A. in English literature from Texas A&M University in 1999. She has been the editor of Austin Family Magazine since 2009. Dunham also works as a copywriter with the Boot Campaign, a nonprofit campaign that assists injured veterans.[1][2] She and her husband, Trevor, have four children currently attending district schools.[3]

Three of the seven seats on the Georgetown Independent School District board of trustees were up for at-large general election on May 6, 2017. Two seats, Place 4 and Place 5, were up for regular election to three-year terms. Place 7 was up for special election to a one-year term. The Place 4 incumbent did not file for re-election, leaving David Phillips to run unopposed for the open seat. Place 5 incumbent Melanie Dunham defeated challenger Jimmy Jones Jr. The Place 7 incumbent Ben Stewart was appointed to the board after a member resigned and left the seat vacant. He won against Jaquita Wilson and Rida Ortego in the special election to finish the term.[4]
