Melanie Wright (Indiana)
Melanie Wright (Democratic Party) was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 35. She assumed office on November 5, 2014. She left office on November 4, 2020.
Wright (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Indiana State Senate to represent District 26. She lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Wright also ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Indiana's 5th Congressional District. She did not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on May 3, 2022.
Biography
Melanie Wright earned her bachelor of science degree in music education from Ball State University. She subsequently earned her master of education in curriculum and instruction as well as an administrative license from Anderson University. After graduation, she became a teacher who worked in various Indiana public schools. Prior to election, she taught K-6th grade music at Daleville Community Schools.[1]
Wright has volunteered with projects such as the Little Bronco Dance Clinic and Christmas Angel Tree. Her organizational affiliations include the Indiana Coalition of Public Education and the American Federation of Teachers-Indiana.[1]
