Jackson Hole Native, Wyomingite, with roots from Topping Lake, Moose Head Ranch and Mormon Row. Currently the only local candidate representing Teton County and Wyoming values. Moore represents strong conservative family values and stewardship of economic prosperity for the community. Moore is president of the Log Cabin Republicans of Wyoming and believes in the social welfare of his constituents.

Melchor Moore attended a Spanish bilingual university in Puerto Rico; Interamerican University of San Germán. Moore obtained a master’s degree in psychological counseling with the design of a quantitative research study of drug and alcohol use specific to Puerto Ricans and using the Spanish language. A previous study specific to the Puerto Rican population had not been conducted.

Moore spent a decade working as a paralegal and subsequently as a clerk for federal magistrate and state judges. Moore’s approach to government is a statute down to administration view of how policy and procedure work.

Moore is currently single and works as a secondary market art dealer and appraiser. He trades art nationally, as well as internationally.

The name ‘Melchor’ comes from his biological father’s Philippino lineage, but Moore was adopted by Robert Moore, who married his mother, Leanne Staley, from the Coffin, Harold, Sanford, Staley, May, Budge lineage. Moore is the 6th generation of descendants in Teton County.
  • Family values. Republicans build their voter base like they build their family values. Moore is concerned with issues like child care and special education for preschoolers prior to entering the public school system. Moore is concerned with senior care as our family members and loved ones age.
  • Ecosystem. Wyoming is known for its beauty and abundant recreation. Less known are the affects of unkempt waste water systems that need to be updated as our population grows. Tourism boards and local water districts play a vital role in maintaining and updating these systems.
  • Quality of life. We are a capitalist society, but density of development and frivolous spending must be regulated when our population growth requires attention to fire/ems salaries and infrastructure, sewage systems and child care. Teton County. / Jackson Hole is a tourist based community, but we can’t forego the care of our residents.
Transparency and informing the people. We are a government of the people and for the people. We must be clear in the statistics that we are reporting, where they come from and how they were collected. We must make a larger effort to inform the people of policy changes and development that affects them directly and make greater effort to involve them in the decision making process.
The County is very important, because that’s where all the decisions about waste water, housing, schools, airport, hospital, and sheriff are made. All the essential services that make a community work are part of the county under Wyoming Statute.
I think Milton Freedman was very articulate in his ‘Capitalism and Freedom’
I’m a heavy reader. In my youth I read a lot of fiction, and then philosophy and philosophy about government. I’ve read the Bible. Now I read mostly scholarly journal articles. Also, since I read and write four languages (Spanish, French, and Mandarin) I play a lot of vocabulary builder games.
Since this is a democracy, the people decide. Local government fills in where the constitution and federal and state law don’t provide.
I’m analytical because of my background with statistics, and with that I look at variables, and so I am inquisitive when looking for solutions.
You have to talk to the people and know what they want. You have to do the due diligence and show up to the meetings, but you also have to reach out to the people. Not all people are up to date with community meetings and newspaper ads.

Also, ongoing training where there is a lack of knowledge is essential.
I would like to aid in the streamlining of some governmental processes and help make some departments less decentralized. Although, I think that the concept of our local government is very good on a whole, we could improve.
Desert Storm. Televisions were wheeled into our classrooms and teachers aids had recorded the daily news on VHS.
Jack in Rafter J paid me a dollar a bail to flip hay bails. I think the next summer I cut lawns and help cook for the hay crew during haying season on the Hereford Ranch.
‘Daybreak and Redemption’
Claire de lune by Debussy is always in my head.
Sometimes I think I’m overly critical and my curiosity comes across as being negative.
I think what’s more important is the lack of power the commissioners have under Statute that the public thinks that they do. I think some commissioners haven’t read the law and make decisions that are outside of their purview based on an emotional response.
I think it helps to know how the levels of government work. I worked in courthouses, as well as private law firms and so see how documents are filed and how things take time to get a response. But I also see where we could streamline the process so that people aren’t burdened by commissioners learning on the job in order to make a decision.
Because of my focus on statistics when obtaining my college degree, I look at variables. Different angles must be looked at, because information from various sources can influence the whole when making a decision.
Why is the ocean the color that it is?

Because all the fish are at the bottom going ‘blue blue blue’
I think it’s great when budgets are posted online. I use those pages to get a lot of my information.
