Melinda Dunnwald is an at-large member of the West Des Moines Community Schools School Board in Iowa. The seat was up for general election on September 8, 2015. She defeated Milton Cole, Michele Dahlen, Judy Jesse and Andi Lipman for an at-large seat.[1][2]
Biography
Dunnwald is a parent volunteer at Jordan Creek Elementary and Stilwell Junior High School. She has also served on the District Branding Committee and the School Community Network Committee for the district. Dunnwald obtained her bachelor's degree in speech communication from Iowa State University. She went on to earn her master's degree in business communications from St. Thomas University.[3]

Four of the seven seats on the West Des Moines Community Schools School Board were up for election on September 8, 2015. The available seats represented the district at-large.
Incumbents Milton Cole and Andi Lipman were defeated in the election. Incumbent David Brown retained his seat. Candidates Liz Cox, Melinda Dunnwald and Jill Johnson won the seats of Cole and Lipman as well as the open seat left by incumbent Kevin Carroll who did not run for re-election. Candidates Michele Dahlen and Judy Jesse were also defeated in the election.[4][5][6]
