I believe integrity, compassion, and humility are important for an elected official. A person must hold high moral standards to be trusted to make decisions for the public and to allocate public resources. As someone who highly values people, I find having empathy for others helps guide the decision-making process to better serve the others. Listening to the stakeholders has led to better policies to meet the needs of the community. Finally, I trust the experts and value the knowledge they offer to help me make the best decisions. An elected official must be humble to trust experts and conduct research before making decisions. As such, I will advocate for government transparency, be an active listener, and have the courage to seek information for the solutions that can best serve the public.
The qualities that make me a successful officeholder are passion for public service, enthusiasm for knowledge, and courage to do the right thing. I am someone who will always take action to make improvements. I come from a family history of valuing lives and work ethics, so I understand the importance of having the opportunity to succeed. Throughout my career, I’ve advocated for the underserved communities and small businesses. As an active community leader, I’ve volunteered to assist the vulnerable, to enrich the education of the youth, and to enhance the quality of life for the working parents. My personal experience as a working parent, raising three active children and caring for my elderly parents, gives me a unique understanding. Working with other parents in our city for the last 20 years helps me appreciate our community’s needs and challenges. I have gained perspectives professionally serving small businesses and running my own business. With a proven record of success and a reputation as an avid advocate for our residents, I am qualified and ready to serve the city on the dais.
