Melissa Byers-Emmerling has served as the presiding judge for the East Liverpool Municipal Court in Columbiana County, Ohio. She joined the court in 1990 and was the first woman elected to the bench in Columbiana County.[1][2]

Education

Byers-Emmerling received her undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law.[3]

Career

After receiving her law degree, Byers-Emmerling worked in private practice for two years. In 1984, she became an assistant prosecutor at the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas. In 1990, Byers-Emmerling joined the East Liverpool Municipal Court.[1]

2013

Byers-Emmerling ran for re-election to the East Liverpool Municipal Court. General: She won without opposition in the general election on November 5, 2013.[5][3][6]

2010

Byers-Emmerling ran unsuccessfully for the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas. She was defeated by Scott Washam in the general election.[7]
