Melissa Chapman
Melissa Ann Chapman was a justice on the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court. She was appointed to this position in September of 2001 and was retained by voters in 2002 and 2012.[1][2] Chapman retired on October 1, 2019.[3]
Education
Judge Chapman earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. After working as a mental health counselor for five years, she enrolled in law school at St. Louis University, where she received her J.D. degree in 1983.[1]
Career
Judge Chapman practiced law with her own firm, Morris B. Chapman & Associates, Ltd., for 18 years before her appointment to the appellate court in 2001.[1]
2012 election

Chapman was retained on Nov. 6, 2012 with 73.8% of the vote.[4][5]
