Melissa Friedman is a judge of the 23rd Judicial Circuit in Roanoke, Virginia. She serves on the 23rd Judicial Circuit's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Judges of the 23rd Judicial Circuit appointed Friedman as an interim judge on November 12, 2020, to replace Judge Onzlee Ware, who was elevated to the circuit court in April 2020. She assumed office on November 30, 2020.[1] The Virginia General Assembly elected her to a full term in 2021.[2]

Education

Friedman earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a law degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1984.[1]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Friedman co-founded law firm Anderson & Friedman and clerked for U.S. District Court Judges Edward Johnstone and James Turk.[1]
