Melissa Gilbert
Melissa Gilbert was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District of Michigan.[1] Gilbert dropped out of the race on May 24, 2016.[2]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Mike Bishop (R) defeated Suzanna Shkreli (D), Jeff Wood (L), Maria Green (G), and Jeremy Burgess (Natural Law) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Bishop faced no opposition in the Republican primary. Melissa Gilbert (D) withdrew from the race prior to the primary, but still appeared on the primary ballot. She was replaced by Shkreli on the general election ballot.[3][4][5][6][7][8]
