My name is Melissa Hammond. I am an Angeleno born and raised, a graduate of UCLA School of Law, and a mother of three.

My candidacy has been widely endorsed. A full list of my endorsements is at www.melissahammondforjudge.com/endorsements. The LA County Bar Association has rated me “well-qualified.” I have worked in the Los Angeles Superior Court for almost 20 years, serving as a deputy district attorney who prosecutes serious and violent felonies and, before that, as a deputy public defender. At the start of my career, I practiced civil litigation, primarily handling real estate and municipal law disputes.

I am running because of my deep affection and ambition for the community of Los Angeles. My grandparents immigrated here after losing everything in the Holocaust. Los Angeles was their paradise and dream come true. Now it is where I reside, raise my own children, and where I send them to public school. I want to serve my community as best I can. I have the knowledge and experience needed to be a skilled, fair, and compassionate judge. Please vote for me for Office No. 118 on November 8, 2022.
  • I am fair, efficient, and intelligent.
  • I have compassion for the people in my community.
  • I have been rated “well qualified” by the LA County Bar Association, the only candidate in this race to attain that rating. I am endorsed by the LA Times, several local newspapers, over 70 judges, as well as numerous organizations, elected officials and law enforcement groups.
I will follow the law and be fair to all sides. I will respect and listen to everyone who comes into the courtroom. I am interested in all areas of public policy.
