Melissa McLawhorn Houston
Melissa McLawhorn Houston was the commissioner of labor in Oklahoma from 2015 to 2019. A Republican, she was appointed to the office by Governor Mary Fallin (R) on November 10, 2015, for a term beginning December 1, 2015, and ending in January 2019.[1]
Biography
Houston previously served as chief of staff in the offices of the Oklahoma attorney general and the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security. She also served as the deputy director for the Oklahoma Sheriffs Association and as an attorney for the Oklahoma Truth in Sentencing Policy Advisory Commission.[2]

Houston was appointed as Oklahoma labor commissioner by Governor Mary Fallin (R) on November 10, 2015. She assumed office on November 20. Houston filled a vacancy created when the former officeholder, Mark Costello (R), died on August 23, 2015.[3] Houston was appointed to serve the remainder of Costello's four-year term. She did not seek election to a full term in 2018.[1]
