Pascarella provided the following answers to questions from the League of Women Voters:

How do your qualifications and experience prepare you for the duties of this office?

I have a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in education. I have taught in the CCPS system for over 12 years, as a teacher and an instructional leader. My family lives in Charles County and our son is currently attending a CCPS elementary school, so I have a vested interest in maintaining a quality school system for the children of Charles County.[3]
—Melissa Pascarella's response to Vote 411 Voter Guide questions (2014)[4]

If elected, what would be your priorities for this office?

I would work to support the development and retention of high quality teachers and administrators. Starting by looking at how we identify quality teachers and administrators and work to keep them in Charles County, teaching our kids. Then working to train and mentor teachers that are striving to reach excellence for the students of CCPS.[3]
