Melissa Pollitt Bright is a judge on the Orphans Court of Wicomico County in Wicomico County, Maryland.[1] She has served as a judge on the court since 1994.[2] Bright ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Wicomico County in 2014, winning a new term that expired on December 31, 2018.[3][4]

Primary: She was successful in the Democratic primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 32.6 percent of the vote. She competed against Peter D. Evans and incumbent Judge Norma Lee Barkley. All 3 candidates ran unopposed in the primary.
General: She faced Grover Green Cantwell, Jr., Peter D. Evans, and incumbent Judge Norma Lee Barkley in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 24.2 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats.

Bright was re-elected to the Orphans Court of Wicomico County (along with incumbents William J. Smith Jr. and Norma Lee Barkley) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]

Bright has received training through the Maryland Judicial Institute, the National Probate College, the National Judiciary College, and the Maryland Association of the Judges of the Orphans' Court (MAJOC).[7]
