The 391 judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are all selected in an identical manner. Qualified individuals wishing to join the bench must participate in partisan primary elections followed by nonpartisan general elections.[2]

The chief judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are chosen by peer vote and serve for one year.[2]

Qualifications
To serve on an appellate or general jurisdiction court, a judge must be:[2]

  • a district or county resident (for court of appeals and common pleas judges);
  • at least six years practiced in law; and
  • under the age of 70.

Under the Ohio Constitution, a judge who reaches 70 years of age may be assigned by the chief justice to active duty, receiving payment on a per-day basis in addition to whatever retirement benefits he or she is entitled to.

I am running to keep the prosecutor's office in strong hands to protect our families, our communities, and our businesses. The future of Hamilton County and greater Cincinnati hangs in the balance and I am working hard every day to prevent soft-on-crime criminal advocates from taking control. I have extensive experience throughout the criminal justice system including nine years as a prosecutor, ten years as a municipal court judge, six years as a juvenile court judge, and seven years as a defense attorney.
  • My main focus will remain getting the most violent offenders off our streets and insisting on prison sentences for violent crimes.
  • Modern court cases have never been more complex. Increased staffing will ensure that cases are handled quickly and accurately.
  • An expanded victim advocate program will bring the program into the community, with more services and help for crime victims.
I swore an oath to uphold the law and that is what I aim to do every day, regardless of my feelings of that public policy.
I was an assistant prosecutor for eight years in Hamilton County. During that time, I secured a guilty plea from serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin after years of the case going nowhere.
I will remain a voice for transparency and accountability in our justice system, and will continue to stand up and speak out against judges and elected leaders whose decisions make us less safe.
