Melody Bray is a first-generation immigrant, born to Jamaican parents in Canada, raised in Miami, and now living and loving the city of Atlanta for the past eighteen years as a successful realtor, attorney, and activist. Her desire to pursue public office stems from her fundamental belief in the inherent dignity of every human being and she seeks to develop laws and policies that honor their humanity so that everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
  • Melody Bray is an advocate for the less fortunate, dedicated community leader, and hard-working small business owner who loves our city but knows we can do better. As a long term Atlanta resident, Melody has seen what happens when our politicians are disconnected from the people they are supposed to serve. She has also seen firsthand the change that can happen when we show up together and fight to make our communities a better place. She is running to be your State Senator because we need active and thoughtful leaders who are willing to listen, innovate, and implement practical solutions that will make metro Atlanta a place where everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
  • Let’s face it: A few issues listed on a website will never encompass all the issues that a Senator encounters. We can talk about issues, but it’s also important to know how elected officials approach their decisions. Melody believes we should be judged based on how we show up for the most marginalized people in our community. When we implement inclusive policies to help the most vulnerable in our city, we all win.
  • We all feel that metro Atlanta is at a tipping point. The decisions we make today will define our city’s future. We need comprehensive and practical solutions that pave the way for our bright future - not just for some Atlantans, but for all.
Voting Rights: During Melody's time co-founding and leading The Georgia 55 Project, she realized there is a larger force trying to disenfranchise Georgians from voting, but also the change that can happen when people unite towards a common goal. Without the right to vote, citizens are unable to speak up and stand up for the issues they care the most about.

Education:While representing school boards and teachers in court, Melody learned that the way we approach education in Georgia is not setting up our students and teachers for success. Melody seeks to fully fund our education system and believes that educational achievement happens when communities, governments, and businesses come together to support both the child in the classroom and the families in their neighborhoods.

Affordable Housing: While working with CityRoots ATL, Melody advocated for all levels of government-- federal, state, and local-- to work together to create affordable housing options for metro Atlanta residents. She wants legacy residents to be able to stay in their homes, seniors to not be displaced due to rising costs, and new families to be able to find an affordable home to raise their children.
