Campaign themes
2016
Vaccaro's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Climate Change Scientists around the world agree that climate change is impacting our future. Nebraska needs to invest in clean energy and keep big oil off our land and private properties. As a national food producer, we must have a plan for expected drought conditions and try to prevent them. We need to utilize technology to better understand the problem and our options to protect our families and our economy. Public Safety Prison reform, gun violence prevention efforts, and first responders are our best tools for a safe Nebraska. We must keep prison staff safe from harm at work and stop putting children in solitary confinement. Nebraska cities should never be listed as leaders in gun violence. At the front lines of ensuring public safety are first responders. People who put their lives on the line for the public good must be adequately funded, trained and have the resources required for excellent outcomes. Civil Rights and Equality for Everyone I will work to increase voter turnout and transparency in government. When looking at issues that directly impact families and children such as foster care, immigration, and healthcare, I will put the focus on the inherent worth and dignity of people. Government has no business in discrimination or mean-spirited laws that put specials interests before the people.[2] |
