Melvin L. Schweitzer is a former acting justice for the New York County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 2009. He was also a judge of the New York Court of Claims from 2005 to 2015. He left the bench in 2015 to join the law firm Liddle & Robinson, LLP.[1][2]

Education

Schweitzer received his B.A. degree from New York University in 1966 and his J.D. degree from Fordham University in 1969.[1]

Career

Schweitzer began his career in 1969 as an associate of the law firm of Rogers & Wells LLP (now Clifford Chance US LLP). He worked there until 1999 and became a partner and counsel of the firm. From 2001 to 2005, he practiced under the title of M.L. Schweitzer & Associates, P.C.

Schweitzer began his judicial career in 2005 when he was appointed to the New York Court of Claims. He was reappointed to a full term on this court in 2008. He served as an acting Supreme Court Justice from 2009 to 2015.[1]
