Melvin R. Hughes, Jr. is a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit in Virginia. He was appointed to the court by former Governor Charles S. Robb in August 1984.

Education

Hughes received his undergraduate degree from Hampton University and his J.D. from the Howard University School of Law.

Career

Before he joined the 13th Judicial Circuit, Hughes served as a district court judge for the 13th Judicial District Court. He was also previously a partner at the law firm of Chambliss, Cunningham, Hughes and MacBeth.
