Member recently appointed to Idaho Judicial Council resigns
February 22, 2012
Idaho: After news of a previous felony conviction surfaced, Susan Kiebert resigned from her newly appointed position on the Idaho Judicial Council. The council advises the governor on judicial appointments. Kiebert admitted that she thought the felony had been expunged from her record after paying restitution and serving probation.[1]
The felony conviction was for making false statements when Kiebert served as director of Head Start programs in the state. Ironically, with the omission of the conviction on her application for the Judicial Council, Kiebert is again making false statements to the government.[2]
Kiebert said she would have never put anyone through the confirmation hearing if she knew the felony was still on her record. In response to the appointment, Governor Butch Otter said only, "No comment."[2]
