My decision to run for 5th District Council comes from a genuine care for our community and a commitment to making Lexington a place where everyone can thrive. This city isn’t just a place to live; it’s a place where I want everyone to experience the same warmth, sense of belonging, and opportunities that I have benefited from during my seventeen years as a Lexingtonian. My experience as a real estate professional, consultant on a variety of projects, community involvement, and middle school girls' basketball coach allows me to connect with a range of people, giving me a unique perspective on the needs of our district and city.
  • I am running for this position simply because I care about our neighborhoods, our district, and Lexington as a whole. I recognize and appreciate that this race is non-partisan and pledge to keep it that way -- as our local issues are proven to be non-partisan issues time and time again.
  • I believe that my role as a councilperson will be to listen, communicate, and consider constituent and stakeholder perspectives and I will not take this assignment lightly. I recognize how important it is to hear and understand ALL perspectives before making crucial decisions.
  • As a real estate agent, I understand the importance of our land. Lexington's land is finite, and we must develop it wisely to preserve the beautiful farmland that defines our identity. In order to do this, we must first take a hard look at our outdated zoning regulations and development processes and decide how the city can work together with neighbors, developers, lenders, and other key players to allow our city to progress without losing our identity.
Land-use policy, transportation planning, streets and roads, development processes, and public spaces.
The first major historical event that I distinctly remember occurring was 9/11 when I was 12 years old. Of course there were other events before then, but this was such a monumental event that I will never forget many parts of that day.
I do not believe it is necessary -- as long as the candidate is someone who can learn quickly and think for themselves, then I believe that the candidate can be successful.
