Merlin Van Buren (September 11, 1960) was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 34 of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Van Buren was removed from the ballot.[1]

Van Buren was a Democratic candidate for District 34 of the Wisconsin State Assembly. He was also a Democratic candidate for District 34 of the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010. The primary election was on September 14, 2010, and the general election was on November 2, 2010.

Van Buren has been a purchasing agent for Foster & Smith since 1998. He earned a B.S. in Entomology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1982. He also earned a Teaching certificate from Northern Illinois University.[2]

Elections for all 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 12, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Incumbent Rob Swearingen was unopposed in the Republican primary. Swearingen was unopposed in the general election. Gerald Anderson (D) and Merlin Van Buren (D) were removed from the ballot before the primary.[1][3][4]

Van Buren ran in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 34. He defeated Roberta Retrum in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012.[5] Incumbent Republican Dan Meyer did not run for re-election. Van Buren was defeated by Rob Swearingen (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[6]
