Meshal "Kash" Kashifalghita came to America in 1993 at the age of 17. His 21-year law enforcement career began with the District Attorney's office, and then to the State of California. While working full time Kash earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State, Fullerton, and attended the Abraham Lincoln University School of Law, and the Master's program a Claremont McKenna College. In 2005 Kash enlisted in the United States Army Reserves, and as a Lieutenant deployed to Afghanistan under Operation Enduring Freedom. His fluency in multiple languages was a benefit to the Army Special Forces unit to which he was attached. Kash is the former president of a California law enforcement union, and continues to work in law enforcement for the State of California. He and his wife Nancy are raising a 14-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. He is a candidate for Congress who believes America does better when we all do better.
  • Every American should have affordable health care. I will stand with my Democratic colleagues in support of pre-existing condition coverage, will oppose arbitrary insurance cancellation, and will press for negotiated drug prices for every federal health program.
  • Every hard-working family should be able to buy a home, send their children to college, and save for retirement. I will aggressively fight for a living wage for all Americans.
  • When America makes a promise, America keeps that promise. Protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare to preserve a dignified retirement for all Americans is one of my top priorities.
There are so many cancers and other catastrophic diseases that affect American families like yours and mine, but here in the greatest country in the world people are dying from diseases that don't have to be fatal. I watched my mother struggle and ultimately lose her battle with cancer, which will affect more than one out of every eight women. That means one out of every eight families are affected, too. This is why I believe every American needs and should have affordable health care.
The House of Representatives appropriates money for specific spending, and authorizes that expenditure of government funds. All federal spending originates in the House.

No. The ability to communicate is more important, and there are comparable positions of leadership outside of Congress to prepare a candidate for office.
This country is so politically divided that there is no longer even the hint of compromise. We'll never progress until people can get past these divisions. Without compromise there can be no effective government.
In a nation of 327 million people, surely there are more than 535 people qualified to serve in Congress. The founders never envisioned professional politicians running the country. They designed a system of government in which citizens would accept the responsibility of representing their communities for a period of time, and then go back to their lives as citizens. I am for term limits for all elected offices.
