The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization and business association that represents more than 1,800 member businesses in Milwaukee, Wis., and the surrounding area. The group builds relationships among its members and represents area business interests at the local, state and federal levels through lobbying and other forms of advocacy. MMAC hosts business conferences, manages economic development programs, supports young professionals and provides a range of other services to its members.[1]
The organization represents 1,800 member businesses working in manufacturing, service, wholesale, transportation and more. About 80% of those members are small businesses (1 to 100 employees), but MMAC also represents most Fortune 500 and Forbes 1000 companies in the Milwaukee region. The organization runs an associated 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the MMAC Community Support Foundation, which works "to promote quality education for Milwaukee youth and promote other projects and activities that benefit the greater Milwaukee area." As of July 2014, the foundation's principal officer was Ulice Payne Jr. and it had an annual revenue of approximately $350,000.[2]

John Doe investigations
Two John Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov. Scott Walker (R).[6] The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce was one of 29 conservative organizations that were targeted during the course of the second of two John Doe investigations in Wisconsin related to Gov. Scott Walker (R).[7][8]
