For too long, I watched the people in our district lose hope in our electoral process as their voices were robbed by special interests. I know what it’s like to feel voiceless, so I won’t stand by as the people of our district are ignored and forgotten by our elected officials.

As the child of Filipino immigrants, I watched my parents exemplify the importance of giving back to our community. I saw my father, a doctor, make house calls for the elderly and waive fees for those who couldn’t pay.

My parents raised me to prioritize people over profit, a lesson I carry with me daily.

When my beloved brother Junior died by gun suicide, our family suffered in silence for nearly 20 years. It was this tragedy that eventually drove me to activism and public service, discovering the power of using my voice for change, especially advocating for those who have been left behind. Since, I’ve spoken throughout California and at the US Capitol about gun violence prevention as a grassroots activist. I also stood arm in arm with LAUSD teachers during the 2019 Teachers Strike, cared for our unhoused neighbors, advocated for affordable housing, fundraised for my children’s Title 1 school, was elected as an LA County Democratic Party Delegate, and currently serve as a CA Democratic Party Delegate.

My vision is for a California that works for ALL - the Green New Deal, universal single-payer health care, affordable housing, public school equity, reimagining public safety, and more.
  • Green New Deal: In the Assembly, I will mobilize for bold climate action in the form of the Green New Deal for California.
  • Public Education: California does not spend enough on public education. I will fight for increased investment in our public schools, like increased wages, better facilities, more resources and more support across the board for our public schools.
  • Universal healthcare: If elected, I will be on the frontlines of fighting for Single-Payer Healthcare/CalCare for every single Californian. This coverage should also include mental health services, prescription drugs, vision and dental care, and experimental treatments.
Gun violence prevention and suicide prevention will always be a foundation of my advocacy and work. As a gun violence survivor and grassroots activist for gun violence prevention, I understand the need for urgent action on gun violence. I will also fight for funding for mental health services, community-led gun violence prevention programs, and legislation that gets dangerous weapons off our streets.

I also passionately believe that housing is a human right, having been a longtime advocate for safe and affordable housing and caring for our unhoused neighbors. I support investing in more affordable housing, public housing, and local rent control and will fight for tenants' rights and stand against violent sweeps of our unhoused neighbors.
